Peace of Mind

Our online cremation program is for those wanting very minimal services. That said, know that our staff remains fully engaged in, and concerned for, the care of the deceased.

In the state of Michigan, a funeral home and crematory cannot be owned by the same business. This means we take the deceased to a local crematory to handle the actual cremation. To offer the most affordable price, we are in partnership with a local crematory we have worked closely with for many years. Their highly professional staff, top-quality facility, and rigorous set of operating procedures ensure the safe and secure return of your loved one’s remains.

Seven Step Peace-Of-Mind Online Cremation Process

Prior to Cremation

  1. We respectfully transfer the deceased into our care. Upon arrival to the care center in our funeral home, the deceased is identified with a hospital style bracelet, and placed into a secure refrigeration unit.

  2. Our Online Cremation Coordinator oversees the entire process and a licensed funeral director reviews everything.

  3. We handle all legal paperwork necessary to proceed with the cremation. A death certificate with cause of death must be obtained to acquire the cremation permit from the county medical examiner. The cremation is scheduled after receiving the cremation permit and signed consent from the legal next of kin.

  4. The deceased is placed into a cremation container as required by the crematory.

During and After Cremation

  1. Upon completion of the paperwork required for a cremation, our own staff will transfer the deceased to the crematory.

  2. Upon arrival at the crematory, their staff reviews the permit and consent form. To assure proper identification, they issue a unique identification number on a metal tag that remains with the deceased throughout the entire process, and stays with the cremated remains afterwards.

  3. After the completion of the entire cremation process, the cremated remains are placed into a temporary container and clearly identified. The cremated remains are returned to our Rochester Rd. funeral home, and the family is notified that the cremated remains are ready to be received by them.

If an urn or other container is purchased by the family, a licensed funeral director will handle the cremated remains as directed by the family.
